Unlike the MRCOOL DIY Series, Olympus uses conventional copper line sets and professional HVAC installation methods. The refrigerant piping is connected, leak tested, evacuated with a vacuum pump, and the system is commissioned before startup. Many customers purchase the complete system themselves and have a local HVAC professional handle the final installation and startup.

What is the MRCOOL Olympus Series?

What is the difference between MRCOOL DIY and Olympus?

The DIY Series is designed around simplified homeowner installation and pre-charged Quick Connect line sets. Olympus uses traditional HVAC installation methods, including field-installed flare piping, evacuation, leak testing, electrical connection, and commissioning.

Can Olympus support multiple indoor units?

Yes. Current Olympus multi-zone condensers support approved combinations of two to six connected indoor units. The exact number and capacities depend on the model-specific matchup table; the configurator accepts only those explicit combinations.

Can I mix wall-mounted, cassette, and concealed ducted indoor units?

Yes, in a compatible multi-zone combination. Current indoor choices include wall-mounted units, square four-way ceiling cassettes, and concealed ducted units at 9K, 12K, 18K, and 24K BTU.

What is a four-way ceiling cassette?

It is a square indoor unit installed in the ceiling that distributes conditioned air in four directions. It can preserve wall space and provide broad room air distribution.

Does MRCOOL Olympus use Quick Connect line sets?

No. Olympus uses traditional field-installed flare refrigerant line sets. The builder does not substitute DIY Quick Connect, No-Vac, coupler-extension, or unrelated central-system line sets.

Does an Olympus installation use a vacuum pump?

Yes. The MRCOOL installation instructions call for evacuation as part of traditional HVAC installation, along with pressure and leak testing before commissioning.

Can I install Olympus myself?

Olympus should be installed according to MRCOOL instructions and applicable requirements by qualified professionals. The work includes conventional refrigerant piping, electrical connection, evacuation, leak testing, final charge verification, and commissioning.

How do I choose the right line-set length?

Choose a sellable length that reaches from the assigned outdoor-unit port to that zone's indoor unit while staying within both the individual-run and total-system piping limits. Your installer should confirm the actual route before purchase.

What happens when piping is longer than the standard charge length?

A permitted longer piping configuration may require additional refrigerant during professional installation. The configurator warns without presenting an unresolved numeric estimate; the installer should verify the final charge using the MRCOOL instructions.
