MRCOOL solves that problem with factory pre-charged Quick Connect® fittings. The included line set connects using sealed fittings, eliminating the most complicated part of mini split installation and making true DIY installation possible. According to the MRCOOL DIY Select brochure, the system is designed so homeowners can mount the indoor unit, connect the pre-charged line set, power on the system, and enjoy comfort without complicated setup.

Includes a Shorter 11.5 ft Pre-Charged Line Set

One of the biggest improvements with the MRCOOL DIY Select series is the included 11.5 ft pre-charged line set. Many DIY mini split systems include longer 16 ft or 25 ft line sets, which can leave extra tubing coiled behind the condenser or along the wall.

The shorter included line set helps create a cleaner, more professional-looking installation with less excess line set to manage. For installations that need additional length, optional pre-charged line sets are available separately in 16 ft, 25 ft, 35 ft, and 50 ft lengths.

Designed for True DIY Installation

The MRCOOL DIY Select 9K system is designed to simplify the install process. Instead of requiring a traditional line set evacuation, vacuum pump, gauges, or refrigerant handling, the pre-charged Quick Connect® line set connects directly to the system using sealed fittings.

That matters because many budget mini splits are only inexpensive up front. If they are installed incorrectly, especially without properly evacuating the refrigerant lines and air handler, the result can be reduced performance, contamination, and shorter system life. The DIY Select helps avoid that common problem by making the critical refrigerant connection step much easier and more reliable.

White Standard Air Handler, Black Option Coming Soon

The standard indoor air handler for this system is white, giving it a clean look for most homes, bedrooms, offices, and living spaces. MRCOOL has also announced a black indoor air handler option for the DIY Select series, which is expected to be a strong fit for modern interiors, garages, workshops, offices, media rooms, and design-focused spaces.

The black indoor unit SKU has not been released yet, so this product currently uses the standard white air handler. Once the black option becomes available, it can be added as a selectable air handler color option.

The MRCOOL DIY® Select series was designed as a value-focused DIY ductless heat pump system that delivers reliable cooling and heating performance at a more budget-friendly price point.

Unlike premium low-ambient or enhanced cold-climate systems, the DIY® Select uses a more standard heat pump design focused on efficient everyday comfort in typical residential applications.

The system still provides excellent cooling performance and dependable heating in colder temperatures, including operation down to around 0°F outdoor temperatures. However, like most standard heat pump systems, heating efficiency and capacity will gradually decrease as outdoor temperatures become extremely cold.

This allows the DIY® Select series to offer a lower purchase price while still providing the convenience of DIY installation, inverter technology, and year-round heating and cooling.

The result is an affordable ductless solution designed to compete with entry-level imported mini split systems while still delivering the quality, support, and reliability customers expect from MRCOOL.

Can I install the MRCOOL DIY® Select system myself?

Yes. The MRCOOL DIY® Select system is designed specifically for homeowner installation using the included pre-charged Quick Connect® line set.
